taking the Tortoise to Burning Man

A few years back I took the Tortoise to Burning Man. Despite the harrowing experience of lying all night on coffin-like beds, with no chance of sitting up, in a big green bus, while blazing out to Black Rock desert, I still feel fairly warmly about the experience, though I WILL NEVER DO IT again. A huge plus were the rockin' organic feasts prepared 3 times a day at our Green Tortoise camp. Now if you've ever been to The Burn, you'll realize that this is no small thing -- having 3 organic, hot feasts prepared for you each and every day. It frees up a lot of time. Also, the people were very nice, though mostly hippies and beatniks and kids.
I think it's pretty funny they're having The Green Man this year. Well, it's about time... Leeching PVC pipes deep into the desert and driving around in tricked out, diesel fume-pumping, entire-party-thumping-at-once-with-drink-in-hand vehicles is the most unsustainable thing I've ever witnessed first-hand. However, it was the funnest party.
