Just came across TRU organic spirits at Astor Wine & Spirits. I was a little skeptical at first. 100% organic American wheat. Real ingredients. Never extracts. And they plant a tree for every bottle sold? Hmmmm.
I bought the TRU Organic Vanilla vodka and the TRU organic Gin with 14-botanicals last week. I was surprised by the quality. I went on the website and read up a little after I did a tasting with the hubby. Here's what I learned: they make the TRU vodkas especially for cocktails. And the gin is a super cool blend of real ingredients like juniper berries, coriander seeds, lavender, chamomile...I can't remember the rest. Just made an old-fashioned-like drink with orange and lemon peel, sugar and shook it with ice.
I also looked up their tree-planting partner, Sustainable Harvest. They plant trees in places like Honduras and Nicaragua. They also work directly with farmers to help them farm their land better. It looks like they're the real deal.
So I feel really good about my purchase. And the vodka and the gin tasted amazing! All in all, pleasantly surprised.
