Good for almost everything!

Baking soda is not just environmentally-friendly, it's economical too. I use it for so many things... brushing my teeth, mixed with water as an antacid, as an abrasive to clean my kitchen and bathroom (instead of cleanser), and I'm getting ready to try it as a deodorant. We can eliminate so much extra packaging waste by substituting plain baking soda for many of the products we buy. And we can save even more money and packaging by buying it in bulk.

Baking Soda - hundreds of uses!

I get baking soda in bulk at the natural grocery store -- and it works great for many things. I use it for brushing my teeth sometimes. It's also good for cleaning my cast iron pans. It's great at breaking off the food and grease without breaking the seasoning. Baking soda also removes odors from plastics and thermos and just about anything else in your house.

Here are some great resources -- there are tons of ideas for using baking soda online.

All brands are not created equal, when it comes to brands of baking soda.

All brands are not created equal. Bob's Red Mill, Grandpa, and Rumford...these are a few of the Baking Soda brands that are ALUMINUM-FREE. For "Sixty Uses of Baking Soda", go to: http://www.thefarm.org/charities/i4at/lib2/60soda.htm.

Very helpful! Thank you! I'd never thought to use it on my cast iron, but I'll be trying it now:) Also, I didn't realize there were different baking sodas. I"ll check into that too.
