These bags don't stay on your shoulder when empty. They just don't, so don't even try it.
They do roll up into tiny wads that stay together with a bit of Velcro(TM) and they didn't break on the way back from Whole Foods to the office loaded down with White Truck, Red Truck, Pink Truck wines, Casa de Verde salsa, organic pink lady apples and so on.
When they're filled, they don't fall off your shoulder. Great little bag!

If you need small bags that scrunch up and can be kept in small places... maybe these bags are for you.
These bags did the job -- I carried a heavy load for about 6 blocks, and they didn't seem to be strained or have any inclination to rip!
Personally, I prefer my reusable grocery bags to have a little more structure, as canvas bags do.

I recently went home for the weekend and caught my mom coming home from the grocery store with 5 plastic shopping bags in her hand. I couldn't believe it. Here is a recreation of what happened:
Me: Mom - what are you doing!?!
Mom: Coming home from the grocery store.
Me: But what are you doing with all of those plastic bags? I gave you three SustainLane bags, and I know you bought a bunch of others at the Green Festival a few weeks ago...
Mom: Yes I know, but I forgot to bring them into the car and by the time I remembered I was already pulling out of the driveway so...
THE END
Enter the Waste-Less bags. These bags roll up into tiny little sacks that you can KEEP IN THE CAR or in your purse or any where else so you never end up without a reusable bag again.
At this point, there is no shortage of reusable bag options when you go to the supermarket. You can buy store brand, low end hemp bags or high end fashion bags. They all do the same thing, and for the most part it now seems to me like it is all about picking the best ones.
There are lots of companies that make bags you can roll up into sacks, but I like these because you can roll them up pretty easily and then seal them with a band - some of the other bags like this require lots of folding acumen - something I do not want to take the time for in a grocery bag.
