Which fruits and vegetables are most important to buy organic?
When I was just starting to try and be green and not quite sure where to start, I had a conversation with a coworker who told me that one good place to start is with what you eat and choosing organic, pesticide-free grown produce, because of all the health hazards you can get from chemicals and toxic sprays used on conventional produce.
With a limited budget, I didn't feel like i could go organic with every fruit and vegetable, so he told me the most important ones were things like strawberries with porous skins and grown close to the ground. These fruits would contain higher percentages of toxic and harmful chemicals. I now only get organic strawberries when they are in season and enjoy their natural juicy, sweet and tangy flavor without harming my body.

Why eat organic produce?
Choosing organic produce reduces not just your own exposure to harmful pesticides and chemicals, but it makes a difference all the way back down the line of production -- the people who handle, harvest and grow the produce and the land around the areas where the land is produced are impacted by those chemicals as well.
Depending on where you live - organic produce might be quite a lot more expensive. You should always pick organic for the fruits and vegetables most heavily treated with pesticides, especially those with thin skins.
If you have to buy non-organic produce, stick with items at the bottom of the list -- like avocados and onions. Always buy organic for the Top Ten worst offenders -- the list is ordered from from worst pesticide load to least:

Embracing Organic
I enjoy organic produce because it gives me the assurance that they are safe for me and the environment. There were many products advertised at the exhibition that were certified organic, such as Guayaki tea, Annie's cookies, etc. It is important to accept and understand the interdependence among ourselves and the earth.
