Natura World Wool Puddle Pad - Queen Size

I bought the a Natura World SmartWool Puddle pad to protect a queen size natural latex mattress, and I am frankly neither completely satisfied nor dissatisfied with it. The main reason I bought it was that I was looking for a natural pure WOOL mattress protector or some sort for reasonably cheap, and I bought this queen sized version for about $123.00 (most of the fancier, thicker, more serious organic wool mattress protectors are $200+). It appears well made, stiching looks solid, a nice gold logo tag attached, and looks in short like a kind of scratchy wool blanket, but the scratchiness isn't a problem when its under the sheet, and the wool serves as a nice temperature regulator. (a plus)

There is no real way to station the pad onto the mattress, it just sits on top of the mattress between the sheets, and sometimes requires adjusting as it slides a little. I suppose if I really wanted to I could sew straps onto it or something but until then (I'm not sure if that's worth the effort) I'll have to just give it a nudge back in place every once in awhile (a neg).

So the product was recently put to the test-- I bled a little bit on the bed (if you're a menstruating woman, you know that it happens to the best of us once in awhile), not more than a spot an inch in diameter, and was disappointed to see that despite this product's claims of being so tightly woven and resistant to moisture, that it went right through onto the mattress, so that's another neg. I wonder exactly how much this product can protect a mattress against (a dab of stray blood is clearly not it's forte). I'm not sure if I would buy this product again, but it's okay for now-- not sure how it would do in a crib (its original intention) with all the liquids that are involved with a little baby.

I'll end this review on a good note, I believe that this product is machine washable (Definite plus) with a natural detergent.
